I have started this blog as a way of sharing with others the battles to find funding to complete a dream for me to volunteer in the beauitful Costa Rica



I have done 2 years of volunteer work for vision Australia, but had to cut back my hours there in orfer to get a paying job, to pay the bills etc and to try and save for my dream i still volunteer with Vision Australia but have had to scale it down to two days a week. I love voluntering, and i love working with people, in my real job i am a support worker for a respite house, in bot my volunteer job and my paid job i find the intangible rewardsyou reciee for the work you are doig far outway any monetary rewards



I have always wanted to travel so when researching different travel options and programs i decided that i wanted to combine my love of volunteering with travelling Its such an amazing way to ebrace yourself in another culture and really et a feel for the life the people there.



After doing lots and lots of research i have decided to do my progra through Maximo Nivel, though thier costa rica progran where i will be helping out with children in local Orphanges and people going through  hardships. Costa Rica for me was a no brainer its such a wonderful country with beautiful cultue and people and i would be honoured to lend them a hand.



Unfortuanly volunteering isnt cheap, in order to protect yourself you have to find a program that offers full support, then thier are the airfares, visas, passports, needles as well as minimul spending money for your days off

That is why toay i have decided to officially open Operation Costa Rica, along with saving money on my own from working i am also doing something a lil less conventioal in trying to croudsource funds as well as asking for all different knds of sources and help to make this a fun experience for averyone



Obiously money is the way you can help support myy dream, but if you are not in a position to help out in that way there are plenty of different ways to help. you could share this page with a friend, and yur networks to get the word out them on what i am trying to acchieve and maybe someone will know someone who can help out in some way. You might have items that you can donate to me to raffle or auction off? maybe your creative minds can suggest other ways i can go about getting funding, maybe your work might consider sponcoring me, and in return i will promote then on my blog and also where their logo in a photo of me when out in the field.  Please comment your suggestions and feedback below



Another Exciting way you can get involved is my donating "goodie bags" these will be a simple and inexpensive way for you to help.  I plan on taking "goodie bags" with me when i leave for my placement to hand out to the children i will be working with.

Whats a "Goodie Bag"? Its as simple as getting a glad ziplock bag (any bag will do) and filling it with simple expensice items, i suggest adding coloring books, colored pencils (a luxury to the kids who never get to use them) stickers, storybooks ect most of you will already have this stuff lying around at home gathering dust so it doesnt have to ost a thing to donate. You just pack them together and send them off= perhaps i could organise local drop off points?



"GOODIE BAGS" ARE NOT BEING COLLECTED AT  THIS STAGE, I WILL BE COLLECTING ONCE I HAVE BOOKED MY PROGRAM AND PLACEMENT BUT THIS DOESNT MEAN YOU CANT START MAKING tHEM NOW AND JUST HOLD ON TO THEM UNTIL I AM READY TO TAKE COLLECTIONS



As this is my first post i wont go on much longer, but in fiture posts i will be giving a more detailed look at the program i will be joinig and the company behind it, A cost breakdown of the fundds i need to raise, information on volunteering and loads more
